Raising Self Esteem in Children
People with positive self-awareness and high self-esteem have an optimistic outlook. They are naturally calm and confident. They attract uplifting experiences and have higher emotional intelligence, with broader social skills.
High self-esteem means your emotional fuel tank is full, giving you access to positive energy and enthusiasm for life.
Low self-esteem means you don‘t feel good about yourself. Your emotional fuel tank is low or on empty causing you to have less energy and enthusiasm for life.
Lack of self-esteem can lead to a negative outlook, which leads to negative experiences and a “victim complex.” Victims feel hard done by and may withdraw or lash out at society, blaming others for how they feel.
The home is the primary sources of development for self-esteem while school/day care the second most powerful environment for shaping a child.
